Corporate Risk Management & Governance

Board-level grip on strategic and operational risk.

Overview

Good governance is invisible when it works and unmistakable when it fails. We help boards and executive teams build governance frameworks that clarify accountability, sharpen decision-making and stand up to external scrutiny — from the ward to the boardroom.

From schemes of delegation to committee effectiveness, we review, redesign and embed the architecture of corporate governance, aligned to the NHS Provider Licence, the UK Corporate Governance Code and CQC's well-led expectations.

What we deliver

Frequently asked questions

What does a governance review actually involve?

We read your governance documents, observe board and committee meetings, interview executives and non-executives, and compare what we find against regulation and good practice. You receive a written assessment with prioritised, practical recommendations — not a generic maturity score.

We are a small provider. Is this proportionate for us?

Yes. Governance should fit the size and risk of the organisation, and CQC's well-led expectation applies to every registered provider whatever its size. We scale the framework so it is light enough to run and strong enough to evidence.

What is a risk appetite statement and why do boards need one?

It is a short, board-owned statement of how much risk the organisation is willing to carry in pursuit of each objective. Without one, every risk decision is improvised; with one, executives know how far they can go and boards know when to intervene.
